ChaoS
I personally love chaos in median to high doses. Something that relies too much on chaos feels a bit uncurated, like noise. Something that doesn't relies on chaos feels stale, boring and overly-engineered — "perfect" in a sense. However, the only thing perfect in this world is the nature, untouched by the subjectivity of humans. Ahh, humans...
I use chaos to portray overwhelmingness and I try to use it in a organized, though chaotic manner. It's a somewhat complicated feeling to express without using chaos, and the fact that it is a negative feeling makes it a bit harder to understand by third-party. In my track The ordinary and mundane I used various samples from various sources. There is people talking, people laughing, people having sex, foley sounds, field recordings, harsh metal sounds and sudden sound effects, all in an effort to capture the overwhelmingness that I was in. I know that this is a difficult track to listen to, especially considering that I only uploaded mostly EDM up to this point. However, for me, I did my job and I captured the feeling that I was in successfully. It is as uncomfortable as the feeling itself, which was my target.
Chaos is an important thing to be used in works from any medium — I believe. It's nuance and a fourth-dimensional factor. Sometimes it is the thing that adds depth and imperfection to the work. I try to balance chaos as it can provide uncertainty and spontaneity. Funny things should happen.
